Horses reflect people who need each other.  We are also pack animals.  Working with horses meant we didn't have to concentrate on the verbal aspect of communication - which is a very small percentage anyway.  So concentration on giving out energy that draws the horse towards our own intention is profound.  I learned that although the horse is far larger and stronger than I am (it could probably kill me) I have the power to influence its direction.  The horse needs to be led and its positive response is therefore the interaction between my positive intention and the horse's.  While the horse is serving me by following, I am serving it by providing its guidance.  Therefore, my purposeful leadership is a gift to the horse and I am its servant-leader.” JC
